Surprise!

Before:

Look at that pile!

Not the best picture, but it shows how much is gone!

Little man!

Today Martin and I took Ethan to get his first "official" haircut instead of me just cutting, or butchering it at home myself. He was such a good boy and I am a little sad his pretty locks are all gone, but it's summer and he won't be so hot and his hair will grow back.

Before:

He was a little nervous at first ...

And he held really still while the clippers were going. I think he was afraid of them.

And when she pulled out the scissors instead of the clippers he started to squirm like a wiggly worm.

All finished! My baby is now a little man! I can't believe all his hair is gone. He looks like a totally different kid.

After his hair was cut, he had a strange accident and somehow ended up peeing on Martin...it was strange because he had his diaper on. This is Martin and Ethan going to look for a new pair of shorts.

After we styled it a little.

I do miss his hair, but it will grow back. At least he won't be so hot this summer.

Mothers day picnic

For Mother's day this year Martin and Ethan bought me a new picnic cooler and we took my brand new awesome JJ Cole blanket and headed to the park for a picnic after our hard work on my flower beds. It was fun even though it was freezing at the end. I'm excited to use the cooler more this summer. It'll be perfect for trips to Bear Lake and camping and more picnics.

George and his friend Allison. She and George helped a lot today while we were working on the gardens.

To all of you Mother's out there, I hope you have a very Happy Mother's Day tomorrow. You deserve it.

Front yard makeover!

I have lived in my house for 2 1/2 years and have hated my front flower beds since day one. I haven't done anything about them because of lack of time, lack of money etc... the list goes on and on. Well I'm not pregnant this summer so I have energy, Ethan isn't an infant and can run around outside with me so I'm not suck inside with him, and my mom's friend Debi told me about compost at the dump for $35 a truckload! I was planning on a truckload of top soil and that's like $150. Once I found that out, I decided it was time. I did a much needed flower bed makeover during the last two awesome days outside! I'm sore and worn out and very sleepy but it was well worth it. My flower beds look SO much better than they used to. Still have a long way to go, but we're at least a step closer.

After it was cleaned out and we had started adding compost.

Ethan was such a good boy and an awesome helper!

He also decided to try some delicious mud ...

And couldn't stop eating it ...

After running around outside all day long, he started to get tired and started to trip more often. That's how he ended up with his ginormous goose egg number 2! (Maybe I really should make him wear a helmet..)

I also planted a ton of flower seeds and will take more pictures when they all come up! (I've never planted flower seeds before so hopefully they do come up.)

It was so nice to be back outside working in my yard after a long winter of being cooped up inside.

Chalk drawings

Martin didn't have to go into work today until noon, so all three of us headed outside to decorate my driveway. Ethan really loves to color on paper with a pen so we thought he would also like to color on the driveway with chalk.
I think Martin and I had more fun coloring than Ethan did. The chalk we have is from Easter so it is in the shape of Easter eggs. Ethan just thought they were Easter eggs and just liked carrying them around the driveway. He was so cute and had a lot of fun hanging out outside.

Here is Martin trying to show him what to do with the chalk.

After carrying around the chalk and randomly sitting wherever he felt like sitting, Ethan was soon covered from head to toe with chalk. He was so dirty!

After we were finished we headed inside and Ethan threw a tantrum. He loves being outside and hates when we go back inside after playing outside for a while. He kept crying and trying to get back outside.

I love the spring, summer and fall and I'm so excited that the warm weather is fast approaching. I love being able to spend time outside and it's even more fun with my sweet baby boy! I can't wait to take him camping again this year, he'll enjoy it a lot more than last year!

Growing boy!

Ethan likes to sit with me while I cook dinner and tonight I turned around to look at him and this is him waiting patiently for dinner. I cannot believe how big he's getting. My baby is not a baby anymore.

Bubble Overload

I have a brand new (within the last year) dishwasher but it doesn't seem to clean all that well, which is really sad. So I've been mixing my own detergent so it works a bit better. Well this night I was flustered trying to get my kitchen cleaned and I was tired and I added a bit too much dishsoap and this is what happened... The even more sad thing is this is the third night in a row this has happened. Kacean just happened to get this one on film.

Sad moments

Today we had two sad moments which broke my heart. My sweet baby isn't always the best on his feet having just learned to walk, and if he's in a hurry or not concentrating he tends to slip or trip or fall over. Well today he kept tripping and falling down just the same as any other day. This afternoon he tripped and landed smack on his nose. He's tough so he just stopped for a minute then hopped up and ran off like nothing happened. A few hours later was a different story. He was playing with Kacean and Ber and got overly excited and slipped on my entry way and rammed his head into the corner of my wall. I was in the restroom and I heard Kacean yell for me and when I came out this is what I saw.

My poor baby boy got his first goose egg and it's a honker! I couldn't believe how fast it popped out, it was within a matter of seconds.

This picture isn't great but it kind of shows how much it was sticking out from his forehead.

This picture breaks my heart ... his tear stained cheeks and sad eyes.

But unfortunately, this clumsy streak was not over yet. We left my house about 10 minutes after this nasty fall and headed for my moms house to borrow her tiller. He was running around outside and tripped (again..) and this time hit his forehead in two places on her shed door!! How does that happen? The good thing was he didn't hit the same spot again, it was over just a little bit.

Now this is his forehead with three battle wounds that all happened within an hour! (Don't mind the finger up his nose, it's all he does now days.)

His forehead with all three marks along with his new trick ... today he figured out that TWO fingers can go up his nose at the same time!

Let's hope tomorrow is a more stable day.
