Memorial weekend

Like everyone else and their dog, I usually go camping on Memorial weekend. This weekend everyone we were going to take camping couldn't come so we scratched that idea. Instead we packed up and headed to Salt Lake to take Ethan to the zoo to see the animals. Kacean works at the Marriott so she was able to get a really good deal on a hotel so we went and stayed the night.

Ethan found the toilet paper rolls and decided to have a little fun.

Saturday morning when we woke up we just lounged for a bit and Kacean and Ethan watched some Saturday morning cartoons.

While we were walking up to our hotel Ethan tripped on a rug (what else is new) and got his 4th goose egg in the same exact spot in 4 weeks! This time it was way worse the the last few. I'm sure it was because it was the same exact spot.

Here is a picture of Ethan and Martin checking out the elephants and modeling his goose egg from the night before. I love the elephants, they are one of my favorite animals to see at the zoo.

This was also Kacean's first time to the zoo. I'm glad she wanted to come with us.

Kacean, Ethan and I checking out the Zebra's. Zebra's are so amazing, and so beautiful. You see pictures of them and think wow, that is really cool they have such even stripes but in person it's even more beautiful and amazing. Maybe it's because it's just not an animal you get to see everyday, but I always am impressed by the zebra's everytime we go.

Next to the elephants and zebra's, the giraffes are my other favorite animal at the zoo. When I was little a teacher of mine at school asked us what sound the giraffe made and nobody knew. Well I went home that night and my mom and I looked it up on some encyclopedia cd we had for the computer and found out that they make a sound like a creaky door. Ever since I learned that I always talk to them at the zoo whenever I go. Without fail, one of them always reacts to what I was saying. I have no idea what I'm saying, but this time the giraffe did not look happy. Usually they just walk close to me and stare at me, but this time it was like they were glaring at me. It was crazy.

Ethan really loved the small animals in the cages, he would stand right up next to the glass and talk to them and giggle. There was this one animal that looked a bit like a dog and a fox mixed that was running all over the place and Ethan just giggled at it for about 5 minutes. He loved it.

I guess he just had too much fun because in the parking lot walking back to the car he fell asleep on Martin's shoulders. I think we'll have to bring him back again. He loved it!

After the zoo we headed over to my Grandma Joann's house to say a quick hello before we came home. We haven't been able to see her for a while so it was fun catching up. She sure thought Ethan was cute.

George

George decided that for some odd reason he just had to cut off all his hair for graduation and that for a week or so he needed a mullet. I don't know what his logic was, but he insisted on it and Mart volunteered to cut it all off.

After I fixed it up at the end of the week. It does look better when he has it all done up.

George also does some random things when he is exhausted and this one was funny enough to blog about. Kacean and I went shoe shopping a little while ago and she found some stilettos. She is already freakishly tall, now she's like a foot or more taller than me. :) Anyway, it was way late and Kacean told George he should try them on...and he did! They were a little small so he had to wedge his feet into them, but once they were on we just couldn't stop laughing.

This is my favorite picture even though it's a bit blurry. Kacean's laughter is so contagious in this picture even though you can't hear her!

Thanks for the laughs!

Black and White Days

The little town I live in is somewhat famous I suppose for Black and White days ... a.k.a. A celebration for cows. :) This is the first year I've ever gone, we got married during black and white days and have had our anniversary during the celebration ever seen until this year. We decided to walk over to the park to see what was going down. We walked around and looked at all the booths, let Ethan ride the train and watched some random guy ride the mechanical bull while I sat and laughed at how ridiculous this celebration was. After all that, we headed home. We were only gone for about 30 minutes total. Haha! There were only about 10 booths total or less. It was a bit sad. Anyway, here are a few pictures from this awesome celebration.

Ethan on his train ride. He really liked it, Martin said he kept saying "WOW!" the entire ride. Martin on the other hand thought it was a bit squishy.

Dog Wash

My dogs love to be outside, to run and to roll in the grass and the mud. The rolling and wrestling create really dirty dogs! So after a long wet winter my girls have finally gotten their first of summer bath. They are not very fun to give baths to so we don't do it all too often. We usually just take Kya in to get washed by someone else. Kacean volunteered to wash them this time so we let her.

The dogs before they knew what was happening.

Kya getting a scrub down. She actually was really really good this time.

She doesn't like the cold water but she knows if she's good it'll be over sooner.

All done!

Stella is such a feisty little thing. Last time she got a bath at home she bit Mart so hard he has a wicked scar on his hand now. I warned Kacean to be really careful around her.

Getting hooked up to the leash. This idea worked a lot better than just holding their collar.

Getting hosed down. She did not like it!

My happy baby.

Once Kya's bath was over she was happy as can be. She even felt the need to torment Stella who was chained to the fence and getting sprayed down. They are best friends. They would both be heart broken if something happened to the other.

This video shows a little bit of Stella putting up a fight. This is how much she loves getting a bath. The sad part is, this was her actually being pretty good. At one point she was flopping all over the place like a fish caught on fishing line.

Well they survived. Until next time ...

We have clean dogs! Thanks Kacean!

Four years!

I cannot believe that Martin and I have been together for 8 years. What's even crazier to think about is that today we have been married for 4 years! He is my best friend and I'm so glad that he's a part of my life. I love you Martin. 4 years down, an eternity to go.

Little Man

Ethan is no longer a baby, he's turned into my little man! If you don't know Mart well, he wears aviator sunglasses all the time. They are his favorite. The other day at the store, we found childrens aviator sunglasses and Mart just had to get them for Ethan. He looked so cute!

I love when he's this happy!

Sick baby

Saturday night was the beginning of a few not so fun days at our house. Ethan suddenly got a fever with no other symptoms. He just a normal fever nothing too out of control Saturday through Sunday night. Monday is when all the fun started.

Monday I took his temperature at it was 103.5. I promptly put him in a luke warm to cold bath to lower it. We also started pushing popsicles on him to cool him off and get liquid in him. He took a nap and when he woke up he was all sweaty but his temp had dropped to 97.5. He had dropped 6 degrees in 2 hours. I was really confused but thought maybe the sweating and the really messy diapers had gotten it all out of his system. I was wrong. He was fine for the rest of the day and into the night.

2:30am Tuesday morning he woke up crying really hard and when I went to check on him he was bright red and the hottest I've ever felt anybody before. I took his temperature and he had reached 104.3. It scared me and I put him in the bathtub in the warmest bath yet since he'd had a fever and he cried the whole time. He was so hot the warm water was freezing to him. I made him sit there dumping water all over him, giving him more tylenol and feeding him popsicles while he sat in the water. It took about an hour to get his temperature to drop down below 103 and I was a little nervous to put him back in his room alone so we had a sleepover on the couch and watched movies. He finally calmed down enough to go back to sleep around 6am. He wouldn't let me sleep of course because he was so wiggly and kept getting on and off the couch.

He has not had a fever since. Hopefully he's now over whatever he had.

Here is Martin and Ethan snuggling and watching a movie. This is all Ethan did for 3 days. He never snuggles this much and he never feels the need to always have a blanket on him. Poor baby.

This is him in between being really hot all the time, he was on lots of tylenol and motrin and was a lot happier that way.

This was the day his temperature skyrocketed up to 103.5 out of nowhere and then dropped suddenly. While it was low we were making him drink as much as we could get him to. In the end, he drank the entire bottle of pedialyte! I was so proud of him.
