Mart

Last Sunday we got all dressed up and headed out the door to go to church.

Here are my favorite boys all dressed up:

After church, I walked in the bathroom to Martin chopping off all his hair!! I walked in with enough time to help him fix it.

Here is his new "do":

It was a total shock and took days to get used to. Ethan thought it was super weird but is totally back to normal now.

For Hire

Worker for hire.

We charge by the hour.

Enjoys what he does.

And cute to boot.

Ethan had a blast re-arranging the dishwasher while I was loading it. What a good helper!

After that I had him help me carry cans down to the pantry and then we went to wash some clothes.

I showed him what I wanted loaded and he got to work. He thought it was so fun!

Because he's so hyper active and needs to be constantly busy, finding him some "big kid jobs" was really good for him. It kept him busy and it was something new and it helped me out at the same time. He was super funny to watch do some chores around the house. I think he'll be helping me more often!

Valentines 2010

After church on Sunday we attempted to get an updated family pictures since it's been a while. We were lucky and got a half decent one and Ethan was even looking. We learned the trick to get him to look. Set the timer and he'll watch the light blink. He thought that was pretty fun.

Me and my baby boy:

Valentines day is also my moms birthday. I spent the night before making her a cake and we went to her house and Debi and I cooked her dinner. I marinated some steaks in Worcestershire sauce and garlic and made a balsamic butter asparagus with baked potatoes. It was delicious.

Happy birthday Mom! I hope your day was awesome!

Haircut

Ethan's hair was starting to get super shaggy so I decided I was going to cut it. I usually cut it so it was no big deal. He tends to wiggle a lot so I accidentally cut off more than I should in a few spots but he was really good this time for the most part.

The second I clipped off a chunk of hair, the tears started coming!

He was so upset and I don't know why. I'm not sure if the sound of the scissors near his ears freaked him out or if his hair has nerves in the strands and it hurt to get his hair cut. *Wink* He has a touch of flair for the dramatic the silly boy.

He sure wasn't happy with me, but I managed to give him a decent hair cut completely even all the way around without big chunks missing.

I also have a picture of me wearing this same cape when I was little getting a haircut, the only difference was I was smiling. :) If I can ever find it, I'll post it along side Ethan's.

The hiding place

At the top of my stairs I have a small linen closet. The closet is my cat Ashes hiding place. He goes to hide from Ethan, the dogs and the noise of our busy house.

Ethan frequently opens and shuts the closet doors saying hi to the cat as he goes into his room to play. Today however, I heard him banging doors and then he went silent. I went to investigate as silence is always suspicious.

This is what I found:

He sure loves that kitty. He wanted to give him a hug so he climbed all the way in and on top of the sheets and things and was lovin' on the cat. Now if only he'd hug Martin and I as much as he does the animals. *sigh* Maybe I'll start hiding in the closet.

Best Buds

Ethan adores Martin.

Martin adores Ethan.

They are by all definitions...Best Buds!

How did that happen??

Ethan has some major cabin fever going on after being cooped up all winter. He loves to look outside and see what's going on out there. The other day I checked on him and this is what I saw. . .

He was wearing pants when I left him in there. His new favorite thing to do if his pants are a little big is to take them off and run around without them.

But how in the world did he get out of these and leave them there still in the kneeling position??
You've got me.

Little artist

Ethan is a maniac and is always running around like a crazy cave man! The one thing that he does like to do for longer than a minute and a half is to color. We have page after page of pictures he's colored for us.

We decided to try something new and now he's hooked!

Maybe he'll be a graphic artist??

The Lego King??

When Mart was little one of his favorite things to play with where legos. When we got married he moved in box after box of legos and they've just been sitting upstairs ever since.

He also loves chess and always tries to come up with new ways to build himself a chess board. He found one that was made completely of legos! He and Traves pulled out all his old legos, sorted through them build a lego chess set! It took around 5 hours and hundreds and hundreds of legos! I cannot believe he had enough of each color to do it. At the very end, they were searching for any white piece they could find but ended up with just enough.

Pretty awesome project!

Traves and Mart showing off their chess set

Next step .... to take it apart and glue it all together. I'm glad it's them and not me...

Little builder

Mart still takes Ethan to Lowe's every two weeks to build a new project. It's now to the point where everyone who works there knows him and talks to him when he shows up. He can hammer in the nails by himself (if he's in the mood) and only occasionally hits people with the hammer when he decides to start swinging it around. He's getting so big and he's so much fun.

Building the latest project at Lowe's with Mart.

I finally got around to sewing Ethan's project patches on his apron. Here are all his patches starting from August to the end of December. We are going to put all this years on a new one. He's made a lot of projects!

Cute boy!

Every time I try and catch up on my blog, I always come across a few random pictures that are cute but never fit in with my blog posts. As I am going to be printing my blog out as a journal one day, I want to have as many pictures as possible. :)

Ethan loves to hang out with Kya while he's watching a movie.

I was trying to take a picture of the two of us because we don't have a lot together.

He woke up in the middle of the night randomly one night and we couldn't figure out what the problem was. We ended up just snuggling on the stairs for a few minutes and then he went back to bed.

Having a little cereal with his dad and smiling like crazy!

Sledding

Martin has been beyond excited to take Ethan sledding since he got some new snow clothes! We debated over where to take him so he wouldn't be going crazy fast and ram into some hay bales and get whiplash or anything. After lots of thought, we decided to just start slow and take him to my moms house. In her backyard she has a small hill which would be perfect for him! We loaded Ethan up and headed off.

He thought it was so fun and was really excited to be out of the house! The poor kid spent his life outside while it was warm and now is cooped up everyday. He's getting major cabin fever. I'm super thankful he got some snow clothes so he doesn't have to be so limited anymore!
