Graduation

Thursday night was BATC graduation. Even though I didn't finish the complete program, I did get a certificate of proficiency (a beginners certificate) and qualified for graduation for getting a certificate at all.

John (the Culinary Arts department head) giving me my BATC certificate cover. I have to say, he looked a little funny in normal clothes without his chef jacket and puffy hat on!

Mart's dad also just finished school about a week and a half ago in the trucking department and was able to graduate at the same time.

Thursday was also Debi's birthday so Mart and Traves made her a cute garden bench so we brought it with us to graduation and gave it to her then.

Friday marked 20 weeks! I am officially halfway through being pregnant!

Summerfest

We love to go to summer fest every year and just walk around and look at the booths and get out of the house and do something. Last year it was raining like crazy so we didn't stay very long, but this year it was beautiful and sunny!

We bought Ethan this hat a while back and decided it was time to see if he'd actually wear it. Surprisingly, he kept it on almost the entire time we were there!

He wore his sunglasses for part of the time too. We did a test run at our house to see if he'd actually keep the hat and sunglasses on before we left.

Getting ready to talk to the tabernacle. Check out that blue sky! Not a rain cloud in sight, hallelujah!

When we were all finished we bought him a treat for being so good. We ended up getting him a churro and he LOVED it! I think Mart had it filled with chocolate something or other and Ethan went to town.

And of course, Traves came with us. It was fun!

After we got back home and Ethan had a long nap we took him to see Toy Story 3 because he loves Buzz and Woody. He did really good.
It was a long fun day! I love being about to get out of my house and just hang out with my family.

Morning snack

Ethan LOVES whipped cream. For breakfast the other morning I made french toast and whipped some cream to put on top. I let him lick the beaters when I was finished.

Ultrasound Pt. 2

We went in for my anatomy ultrasound yesterday and before we walked in the room, we were told that they just upgraded the system and there would be somebody else in the room showing the tech what the updates can do. Because there was an extra person, the tech spent most of her time talking to the lady who upgraded the system and just focused on finding the specific parts she was supposed to find. With Ethan we had a lot of cute pictures that were very distinct and in focus, and this tech gave us almost nothing and they were all pretty blurry. These are the three best pictures we received. It was a little sad.

But on a good note our baby looks good and as far as I could tell, everything looked the way it was supposed to look! He is not nearly as active as Ethan, but maybe that's a good thing. Maybe that means we won't have another tornado!

It's another boy!

Little foot:

I'm two days away from being 20 weeks! I'm so glad I'm nearly at the halfway point and I am excited for this little guy to be here!

Now the name debate begins. We are having a hard time coming up with names we like. We have one name that we both like, but it's still up in the air. I guess we still have a while, but it'll be here before we both know it.

Summer Fun

Today was a super nice day, especially after all the rain we've been getting. After running around outside for probably an hour we decided it would be fun for Ethan to jump on his little trampoline with the sprinkler underneath!

He LOVES water so we thought it would be a hit!

At first he was a little weirded out that water was spraying up out of the trampoline.

After he got over that initial shock, he thought it was the coolest thing!

He had a blast! We will definitely have to do that again!

Ice Cream

'Tis the season.

Once the warm weather hits, Mart becomes an ice cream junkie. It's his way of cooling off. Cold water seems to work for me, but he has a wicked sweet tooth. He has also passed that sweet tooth on to Ethan. Every time Mart reaches for the ice cream, Ethan runs to the couch pats a spot for Mart and insists that he bring the tub of ice cream with him. It's actually pretty funny.

The other day we decided to go have some ice cream cones outside while the sun was still out. Ethan normally just eats ice cream in a bowl or something so the cone was a new thing for him.

After a few minutes, he decided that the ice cream tasted better if he ate it from the bottom instead of the top.

After a while, he was tired of just sitting on the bench eating his ice cream so he went to kick the soccer ball at the same time.

He loves being outside and soaking up the rays. I'm glad the sun has finally decided to make an appearance!

Painting

These are a little old but Mart just loaded them onto the computer from another camera. I think these were taken around Mothers day. Mart and Traves were out working on a project and needed Ethan to paint his hands on something and when he was finished, Mart let him paint his own painting! He totally loved it.

Bird watching

Ethan has this obsession with birds. He will watch for them everywhere and scream "bird!" like a broken record until you repeat "bird!" back to him. Because of this obsession, Mart has taken to bird watching while in our backyard.

Normally all we can see in our backyard are the average Utah birds that you always see around here. Orange stomachs black backs and wings. This year, we have seen quite a few really bright pretty yellow birds. At first we wondered if they had escaped from somewhere, but we've seen quite a few of them and in a few other cities as well. We are now thinking that maybe we got lucky when the birds migrated back to the valley and we got some really pretty ones in the mix this year.

While watching them yesterday, Mart decided to take pictures of the yellow birds.

This one turned out pretty good, thanks to my super zoom lens!

Garden

After a lot of strange weather, stomach pains, sickness and even more strange weather ... my garden is finally in! I know I can't be too far behind (even though it is June) because my super gardener neighbor was planting his at the exact same time. It's really late to get a garden in, but with this super funky weather, I think it's right on time.

My box with herbs in it.

This box has my pepper plants in it.

I loved watching my garden grow last year. It seemed like it went much faster than my old garden. I also love how much easier it is to maintain. It took a fraction of the time to weed and to plant, especially considering how many seeds I planted! It always shocks me to see how many plants I will end up with.

I'm glad it's finally in.
